Frequently asked questions
Why HP-PURMA (Polyurethane)?
An Polyurethane coating not only helps to prevent moisture from penetrating into the building structure, it also makes it more difficult for biological substances to settle, which are a basis for vermin, fungal and mould infestation. In the long term, the fabric of the construction can be protected by using HP-PURMA coatings.
Which colours are available?
Over 190 different RAL colours can be mixed and delivered.
Resin and hardener were mixed in the bucket. How long can the system be used?
The so-called pot life is 3-5 hours. A very important factor is the ambient temperature. The warmer, the shorter the pot life! After 5 hours at approx. 20°C the mixture reacts and becomes viscous. After that it should not be used anymore!
When the paint is rolled, small bubbles appear. How can these be avoided?
When the recommended rollers (
HP-L1032 and
HP-L1034) are used, there is usually no blistering. However, blistering may occur when using standard rollers! With a suitable flat brush or surface paint brush the bubbles can be spread directly after rolling the paint. The so-called "equalizing" should be done carefully, otherwise a very uneven surface look is created.
Why does the colour look uneven or irregular during application?
When mixing, it is important to stir each individual component well beforehand and to mix the entire system well afterwards. After mixing, the mixture should be left to stand for approx. 10 minutes so that any bubbles that may have formed can escape.
Does it make sense to apply the paint as thick as possible?
When applying the paint, ensure that the paint is rolled up evenly and not too thick. If the layer is too thick, the entire varnish cannot react with oxygen and therefore cannot harden. This would result in blistering and an uneven surface. Later, it can even lead to flaking. Tip: It is better to apply twice thinly than once too thick! It should be noted that the first layer should be tack-free before applying the second layer. The second layer must be applied within 24 hours (at 20°C) before the first layer hardens.
I have used much less than specified. Can I return the paint?
All varnishes are mixed on customer order and therefore unfortunately cannot be taken back. In addition, the specified quantity of approx. 150g/m² should be observed. If the paint is applied too thinly, the quality and durability of the coating will be reduced.
The time window for the subsequent coating was exeeded and the substrate has already hardened. Can I still apply the subsequent coating?
A too late application of HP-PUR on the first layer or on the primer can lead to orange peel (a disturbance of the colour flow). Furthermore, a chemical bond between the individual layers is no longer guaranteed. Therefore, it would be necessary to sand the surface again after it has dried through and then rub it with acetone to remove dust or grease.
